The Shalestone Lake Cottage is located on Seneca Lake below our vineyards. The custom structure was originally a post war cottage at approximately 900 square feet, with our custom trademark sloped roof with natural cedar posts and trim. It's unique interior is finished off with custom woodwork including the cabinets, doors, trim, shelves and closets, all hand crafted by the owner from trees harvested from our vineyard's forests.
It is a one bedroom, one bathroom wood trimmed cottage, well appointed, with a full kitchen and a living room looking out westward towards Seneca Lake. The lush, warm and cozy bedroom looks out towards the lake as well for an ultimate lake experience.
The partially covered deck runs along the West side and is ideal for dining, rain or shine. The deck often feels like it is suspended in the canopy of the surrounding trees, and offers a stunning view of Seneca Lake and the evening sunsets. A custom folding table with chairs for dining and a small propane grill offer the opportunity to enjoy and cook in the open space.
Guests staying at the Cottage have access to our large beach below the cottage. To access the beach you will wind down a set of stairs naturally carved and built into the hillside. These stairs can be steep for some, so please be aware prior to booking.
On the beach is our large dock which has two Adirondack chairs, table and umbrella for sunset and lake views, and the beach also has a set of Adirondack chairs and fire ring for your enjoyment. The dock has a ladder for swimming access, so jump in for a refreshing swim or sit and enjoy the spectacular view.
Please note that we as a family also use the beach throughout the summer and fall, so you may encounter us and our neighbors using the beach or our boats. There are two grills down on the beach, one gas, the other charcoal, as well as a large picnic table. If you would like to use, just ask us. We will let you know in advance if we will be down there. The beach is large enough for all to enjoy.
